What to Expect

Physiotherapy is the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of physical injuries and movement problems.

Upon your initial visit, the physiotherapist will do an assessment to determine the diagnosis of your condition. It is often necessary to provoke your symptoms to determine their cause, and this can sometimes aggravate your condition temporarily. The physiotherapist will do whatever they can to help relieve any discomfort after the assessment. As time allows, your first treatment will begin the same day.

Subsequent treatments will likely be required – your physiotherapist will tell you how often they recommend you return. It is common to need 1-3 treatments a week to start. As you progress, you will need to see your therapist less frequently. You will receive a home program to work on which can include stretches and strengthening exercises.

Your therapy sessions will conclude when your goals are met and maintainable at home with a home program. It is common for people to attend physiotherapy treatments for 1-3 months, though it varies from person to person. If we are not able to help you with your condition, we will do our best to refer you to someone who can.
